General Appearance

Large, powerful, alert, with much substance and heavy bone but also with a graceful movement - the biggest Japanese dog breed is also one of the most beautiful ones. The broad head, small eyes and erect ears as well as the culred tail are characteristic of the breed. |

The Akita Inu is a friendly, obedient and adaptive dog. Beside that he is watchful and responsive, dignified and courageous. |

Coat & Care
|
Double-coated. Undercoat thick, soft, dense and shorter than outer coat. Outer coat straight, harsh and standing somewhat off body. Hair on head, legs and ears short. Length of hair at withers and rump slightly longer than on rest of body, tail: longest coat and profused. |

Any color including white; brindle; or pinto. Colors are brilliant and clear and markings are well balanced, with or without mask or blaze. |
